Shawn’s philosophy is simple

It’s never just about playing a particular sound style that’s big in nightclubs or radio, but creating a combination of everything in a set that makes a night a truly magical and memorable one. This philosophy of uniting people with his music is reflected in his work.

In his own words, “Words makes you “think”, but music makes you “feel” happy and helps you connect to one another – from the stranger next to you, to the friends you came in with.”

In 2007, Shawn packed up a small bag of possessions (all 100KG of it) and headed for a musical adventure across South Africa and Mozambique. In search for a new groove, Shawn left behind fans at his Café Del Mar residency, to perform at a series of major musical festivals and dance clubs across Africa.

His infusion of afro music into his DJ set has carved a memorable impression in the minds of locals, gaining not only new musical perspectives that now colour his sounds richer, but proving that music truly does traverse boundaries and bring people together.

His sets are a hearty collection of sophisticated sounds, capable of triggering emotions that mind and body will gladly attest to – a testament to the astute aural sense and intrepidity that only Shawn can possess.
